Turnigy TGY-I6 does not save Model name with long "cancel" button push

I went to add a new model name and when finished I selected long "cancel" button push, but when I go back to the main display it still shows the dafault model name.
Also I ordered a cable for the transmitter thinking it would be the programing cable but what I received does not fit the connector on back. The cable I received is a standard micro USB cable.
