Pitts Python 1400mm EPO CF wing reinforcement rods

The carbon fiber reinforcement rods for my new Pitts Python 1400mm EPO wings appear to be too long. They do not allow the wings to contact each other for adhesive bonding. There is a 1"-2" gap when I install the rods and attempt to push them together. The instructions are vague and poorly detailed so I wanted to ask before I cut the rods down to fit. Not a good start to this build!
