Improving large size heavy duty model stand

I put together the stand, but it seems to need glue to join the two sides to the two support rods. I drilled through both sides of the stand and inserted a 1/4 20 rod through the connecting support rods and into the stand. Used washer and butterfly nut to secure the whole thing together.
